Recognition
The administrative framework of the Paris academy is uniquely tailored to its distinct single-department nature and the pivotal role higher education plays within the city. By consolidating academic services into one unified entity, the academy adeptly addresses the full spectrum of educational and training needs, spanning from early childhood education through to university level.
Guided by the national government’s policies on education, the rectorate oversees and manages both teaching and administrative personnel within the academy. This includes appointing examination committees and issuing national diplomas. The rectorate also distributes financial resources across various educational institutions under its jurisdiction and reports to the Minister of National Education on the performance, requirements, and challenges faced by these institutions. Additionally, it maintains collaborative relations with the Paris Council and local district councils, ensuring a cohesive approach to education within the capital.
It is a formal recognition by an authorized body that a school, college, or university meets established standards of excellence. For students, attending an accredited institution ensures that their degree is recognized by employers and other academic institutions worldwide. Moreover, accreditation assures that programs meet rigorous academic and professional standards, providing students with the confidence that their education will support their personal and career growth. It also reflects an institution’s commitment to continuous improvement and accountability.
Accreditation under banners like “Liberté, égalité, fraternité”, symbolizing liberty, equality, and fraternity, aligns with the values of academic freedom, equal access to education, and fostering a spirit of unity and collaboration among students. This motto, which is an emblem of the République Française, represents the nation’s dedication to high educational and social standards globally.
Seal of quality certification for providers of professional training. Since January 2022, it has become mandatory for all professional training organizations to obtain Qualiopi certification to access public funding. In France, entities such as training centers, apprenticeship programs, validation of acquired experience (VAE), and skills assessment bodies are recognized as OPAC, standing for “Organismes Prestataires d’Actions Concourant au Développement des Compétences.” These organizations must secure a spot on the official French government list and are assigned a unique Numéro de Déclaration d’Activité (NDA), or Activity Declaration Number. The Qualiopi standard is structured around 6 criteria, which are further detailed through 32 specific indicators.
